Access to Services
Winchester Lodge sits in the Shotgun Valley at the foot of the Centennial Mountains near the base of
Mount Sawtell and Mount Jefferson. Only 5 miles west of Hwy 20, it is conveniently located in the heart
of Island Park offering easy access to a number of local restaurants, grocery stores, gas stations and rental
outfitters for your outdoor activities. Emergency services are close and you can enjoy paved roads
(plowed in winter) practically right to the doorstep!
Access to Fun
Boating, fishing, hiking... it's all only a few minutes away from Winchester Lodge. People visiting with
ATVs or snowmobiles can ride right from the property as the cabin is within yards
of the Centennial Loop snowmobile trail. This trail connects up with the rest of the area via Shotgun Trail,
Stamp Meadows Trail or Green Canyon Road.
In fact, we're only a few miles from several of the most popular ways into Reas Peak and Mount Jefferson
(2 miles west to Blue Creek, 7 miles west to Willow Creek or 5 miles northeast to Tyler/Yale Creek).
Access to Yellowstone
With West Yellowstone only 30 miles away, you can also take advantage of the many outdoor recreational
opportunities Montana and Wyoming have to offer. Tour Yellowstone National Park or the Grand Teton National
Park easily from Island Park. (See Area Maps)
Visitors have come as far as New York, Texas and California to spend time playing in this area.
...and many will return time and time again. There's plenty of room at Winchester Lodge, so bring the whole gang!
Driving Distance
Island Park is a reasonable drive from many major cities:
- 80 miles from Idaho Falls, Idaho
- 100 miles from Jackson Hole, Wyoming
- 120 miles from Bozeman, Montana
- 150 miles from Butte, Montana
- 180 miles from Helena, Montana
- 300 miles from Salt Lake City, Utah
Driving Directions
From either direction on Hwy 20, turn west on Kilgore-Yale Road (County Road A2) towards IP Bill's Island
and Jacobs' Island Park Ranch. (Elk Creek Station is to the east at this "T" intersection.) Half way along Kilgore-Yale Road,
you will cross the Henry's Fork at McCrea Bridge Campground. Continue straight for another 2.5 miles to Winchester Road
and turn right (north). The cabin is on the corner of Winchester and Patterson roads.
